About Couple

Fun Fact: Wayne and Sharon expressed differing political views in their enrollment interviews. Their matchmaker asked each of them to look beyond the partisan labels to see the person inside, and now the rest is history! These two show us that finding love across the aisle is possible.

When Wayne, 80, signed up, he was looking for someone easygoing, kind, and fun. He had hopes of meeting a woman who liked to laugh, explore, and share life’s simple joys. After 47 wonderful years of marriage, mission work in Honduras, and building a life rooted in loyalty and faith, he missed the closeness of holding hands and having a true partner by his side.

Sharon, 83, came to matchmaking with her own hopes for this chapter of life. A vibrant, witty, down-to-earth lady, she loved her little dog, enjoyed traveling (especially cruising), and valued honesty, family, and faith. She was looking for a gentleman who was active, kind, and motivated to make the most of each day.

Their matchmaker saw the spark right away. Two retirees, each with a big heart and plenty of spare time to spend enjoying all life’s adventures. Both were active, both had lived rich lives filled with family and service, and both were ready to share laughter, new memories, and companionship.

From the first meeting, the connection was undeniable. Sharon shared that she hoped Wayne felt the same way… and he did! In fact, after only a short time together, Wayne asked to go on Happy Hold so they could focus exclusively on getting to know each other. “Sharon is checking all the boxes so far,” Wayne said with a smile.

Sharon felt the same. “Wayne told me he put the hold on himself also,” she shared. “I do believe if things don’t change, we will be together as far into the future as we can see right now.”

Already, they’re planning a cruise to Hawaii together; just one of many adventures ahead. Both Wayne and Sharon are grateful to have found someone who not only makes them laugh but also shares their outlook on life, love, and the joy of this golden season.

A new journey has begun, and they’re walking it hand in hand.
