Rick and Johanna Love Story

When Johanna began her matchmaking journey, she had a pretty good idea of the type of partner she was looking for. Our matchmakers sometimes need to help clients refine their dating checklists—or ditch them entirely. However, when our team heard Johanna’s list, they were impressed and pleasantly surprised.

Her criteria were specific but flexible. Most importantly, they left her matchmaker plenty of room for interpretation. She was looking for someone who shared her core values of family, intellectual engagement, and political involvement. While physical attraction was still a factor, Johanna knew it was far from the most important thing in her future relationship.

Instead, she focused on traits that were compatible with her personality and lifestyle. What mattered in her search was the substance below the surface of looks, job titles, and income. Johanna was looking for The One. Her matchmaker thought she might have found him. And because she was looking for the right things, Johanna noticed him.
