San Antonio, TX Dating Guide
If you’re single and ready to start dating, don’t wait—get started today!
Coffeehouse by day, bar & lounge by night. This is the perfect spot for a casual first date. You can enjoy roasting marshmallows with your date while sipping on some coffee or cocktails.
Both breakfast and lunch menus feature items mostly in the $10-$15 range.
If you are looking for a low-key first date where you can just enjoy each other’s company without pretense, The Friendly Spot is a wonderful option. The crowd at this Texas icehouse is usually a mix of young families and singles, and the warm and inviting atmosphere makes it easy to relax. Most of the patrons are in the outdoor patio area, but there is also a small bar inside.
Most entrees and shareable appetizers on The Friendly Spot’s menu are under $10.
San Antonians have impressed or embarrassed their dates here since 1929, so there’s hope for us too — right? Cool Crest Mini Golf features two 18-hole courses, one built in 1929 and the other in 1959. The courses here are shaded, prices are reasonable ($11 for adults), and the snacks are delicious (by minigolf standards). Just don’t fight about ball color, and you’ll be fine.
Watching an outdoor movie at the Mission Marquee Plaza is one of the most romantic things to do in San Antonio! Seeing a movie in a different way than a regular movie cinema is very romantic. It’s definitely one of the most unique date ideas in San Antonio!
Everything at Mission Marquee Plaza is free to attend—from the outdoor movie series, to community cultural events, to the farmer’s market.
The San Antonio Zoo has so much going on if you just want to visit, but also some extra romantic date ideas like themed nights (like a romantic dinner in front of the hippos on Valentines), feeding giraffes, and tortoises, going behind the scenes, and having butterflies fly all around you!
Admission to the zoo starts at around $25 for adults. There are discounts available for seniors and military members.
Grab your cowboy boots and put on your cowboy hat for a fun night of two-stepping. Cowboys Dancehall offers free two-step lessons, allowing shy or newbie dancers the opportunity to learn with a like-minded crowd. Lessons come in “Beginner” and “Intermediate” ranges, and dates/times are provided on their website.
If both you and your date like seeing art, you should go to the San Antonio Museum of Art. This is an art museum that you can find in the city center of San Antonio. At the museum, you can see a lot of fine art from all over the world.
General admission for adults is $22. Members get in for free and their guests can join them for just $10. Discounts are also available to seniors and military members.
Sisters Grimm offers a few different spooky tour options, like the Ghost Walk and a ghostly dinner package, but you’ll want to go for the Ghost Bus: it’s the only tour that’s adults-only. If you both make it unscathed through an encounter with the paranormal — or at the very least, an encounter with paranormal buffs — you’re destined for marriage.
Tickets for the tours are $25 for the walking tour and $45 for the bus tour.
Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch $$
It’s a 30-minute drive, but on the plus side, there are zebras! For $40, you and your date can stare an ostrich down and explore over 400 acres of rolling hills, creek beds, and protected animal populations from the comfort of your vehicle. If that’s not a good date, then nothing is. Additional excursions can be added for an additional price.
San Antonio Botanical Garden $
The San Antonio Botanical Garden is a popular destination in the city—and for a good reason! This 38-acre botanical garden is home to hundreds of plants. You can spend your day strolling around the garden and viewing the exhibits on-site, or keep an eye on their calendar to attend one of the many events at the botanical garden.
Admission to the garden is $18-$22 for adults, with the price of tickets varying slightly based on the day of the week.
Get dressed up and attend a night at the San Antonio Philharmonic. In addition to the classical concerts, the San Antonio Philharmonic has other shows such as movies in concert and even pop music!
Ticket prices vary depending on the performance and seat you select, but typically you can expect to pay around $50-$75 per ticket.
The urban winery concept means that they bring in tastes from all over the world to the city, as well as the experience of winemaking. At four tastings for $18, it doesn’t get much more affordable. Combine that experience with the cozy interior and wine tasting, and you might just accidentally stay chatting with your date for hours.
