When I first met my match for coffee, I immediately felt a connection. We scheduled a second date, and shortly after, we scheduled a third date. I love her laughter, her smile, her love for her daughter. I love everything about her, but I couldn’t quite commit because I’ve felt things were moving too fast…until this evening. I made reservations for us at Azuki Sushi, and I asked if we could get a table rather than sit at the bar, but to do so would mean waiting an hour for the table. So we decided to go for a nice walk around Balboa Park and the museum area. Then we took a hike down the tree path, and that’s when I fell for her…LITERALLY! As I stepped to climb up the dirt path, my foot slipped and I “fell” back right into her. We laughed at first, but I was in pain (an old knee injury that comes back from time to time), so I just lay there for a while until I could get up and start walking again. We walked back to the restaurant where we both enjoyed each other’s time, smiling, laughing, joking, sharing food; it was a really great third date. After dinner, we decided to take another stroll around Balboa Park, but this time not back to the trail. LOL We took a stroll around the park; we talked about a lot. I reminisced about how I used to walk lots of my clients through the park, and we were talking about Halloween Horror Nights. Then we left the park; I walked her back to her car, and when we got there, I asked if she could drive me up to my car. She did, and this is where I dropped the ball. We were there in her car, we were talking about everything, and in that moment, I wished that I had leaned in to kiss her. Maybe I’ll get that chance next time.
